Using the Weight Watcher Points Calculator
Use nutrition values for the same serving size in all three fields. The formula adds contributions from calories and fat, subtracts a limited fiber contribution, rounds the result and prevents a negative score. Mixing per-serving calories with per-package fat would distort the answer.

Use the example inputs below to reproduce this result. These are the form's starting values, not recommended targets. Changing your inputs updates your result above; this worked example stays fixed for comparison. Results are rounded for display.

Method and assumptions
Legacy formula: calories/50 + fat/12 − min(fiber,4)/5, rounded. Unofficial and not compatible with current personalized WeightWatchers programs.
Keep the food quantity consistent
Nutrition arithmetic depends on the quantity of food being described. A per-serving value and a per-hundred-gram value cannot be added or compared directly without scaling them first. When checking a food diary, confirm that all entries use the amount actually recorded. These conversions explain numbers; they do not assess whether a diet meets an individual's needs.
Common question
Why does adding more than four grams of fiber stop changing the result?
The legacy formula caps the fiber term at four grams. The food's actual fiber content can be higher, but the calculation does not give a further subtraction above that cap. That is a feature of this historical formula, not a nutrition recommendation.
