Using the GPA Calculator
Enter numeric grade points on a zero-to-four scale in the first list and matching credit values in the second. Keep the order identical. The tool multiplies each grade point by its credits, adds those products and divides by the total credits.
Worked example
Use the example inputs below to reproduce this result. These are the form's starting values, not recommended targets. Changing your inputs updates your result above; this worked example stays fixed for comparison. Results are rounded for display.
Example inputs
- Grade points for each course (0–4)
- 4, 3, 3.5
- Course credits in the same order
- 3, 4, 3
Example result
- GPA (4-point scale)
- 3.45
- Total credits
- 10
Method and assumptions
Sum of grade points × credits divided by total credits. Uses a 4-point scale; enter your institution’s grade-point values.
Check the grading policy first
Weighted averages only reproduce a grading system when the entered weights and grade values match its rules. Review how the institution treats missing work, repeated courses and excluded assessments. Keep the original list of scores or points alongside the calculation so that a different official result can be traced to a rule or an entry.
Common question
Can I enter letter grades such as A or B+?
No. Convert each letter to the grade-point value your institution uses, then enter that number. Different institutions can assign different values or exclusions, so a general letter-grade assumption could give a misleading GPA.
