Using the Least Common Multiple Calculator
The result is a multiple of each input, not a factor of them. If one input already divides the other exactly, the larger input is the least common multiple.
Worked example
Use the example inputs below to reproduce this result. These are the form's starting values, not recommended targets. Changing your inputs updates your result above; this worked example stays fixed for comparison. Results are rounded for display.

Example result
- LCM
- 240
Method and assumptions
Whole numbers only. Factors divide a number exactly. LCM(a,b) = a × b / GCF(a,b).
Keep exact values exact
Whole-number problems often need an exact answer rather than a rounded decimal. Check the permitted range and input notation before pasting a large number. A leading minus sign, a decimal point or a base prefix can change whether an entry is valid. Where the tool returns an exact integer or factorization, preserve that form for later calculations.
Common question
How is LCM related to the greatest common factor?
For positive integers, LCM multiplied by GCF equals the product of the original numbers. Dividing that product by the GCF gives the LCM.
