Using the India Gratuity Scenario Calculator
Ask payroll for the wage base applicable to the event and date, especially after Labour Code wage-definition changes. Choose regular service or a pro-rata scenario, enter additional completed months, and confirm the cap used by your employer.

Method and assumptions
Illustration for monthly-rated service: wage × 15/26 × service. Regular service rounds an additional period strictly above six months to another year; standard five-year condition applies except death/disablement. Fixed-term expiry uses pro-rata service and a one-year condition, while death has no minimum and is also pro-rated. Supply the applicable notified/employer cap yourself. Labour Codes effective 21 November 2025 changed wage definitions: basic+DA alone may be insufficient because of allowance add-backs. Confirm wage base and transitional entitlement with payroll; seasonal, piece-rated and journalist cases are outside scope.

Distinguish gross pay from money available to spend
A pay conversion can describe earnings before deductions without predicting the deposit into a bank account. Check which amount each input represents and whether unpaid time is included. For budgeting, keep deductions and irregular payments visible. Bonuses, benefits and payroll schedules can make an annualized estimate differ from any individual paycheck.
Common question
Why can seven additional months count differently from six?
Under the regular-service rule modeled here, a part-year strictly exceeding six months rounds to another year, while exactly six months does not. A pro-rata scenario instead uses completed years plus months divided by twelve; the correct service basis must be confirmed separately.
