Algebra, one clear step at a time.
Start with an equation, follow the working, and check what the answer means. These focused tools calculate on your device and include examples for ordinary, impossible and special cases.
Find the right algebra tool ↓Solve for an unknown
Use these when you need a value, a pair of values or a range that satisfies a constraint.
Linear Equation Calculator
Solve ax + b = cx + d with exact fractions, working and a substitution check.
System of Equations Calculator
Solve two linear equations in x and y, including dependent and inconsistent systems.
Linear Inequality Calculator
Solve ax + b compared with c, with interval notation and sign-reversal steps.
Absolute Value Equation Calculator
Solve |ax + b| = c using both branches and identify repeated or impossible solutions.
Work with polynomials
Use coefficient lists to expand products or divide by a linear factor. Keep zeros for missing powers.
Solve exponential and logarithmic equations
Isolate an unknown in an exponent or inside one logarithm, with numerical checks and clear domain limits.
Choose by the shape of your problem
- x on both sides: use Linear Equation for ax + b = cx + d.
- Two unknowns, two straight-line constraints: use System of Equations.
- A range instead of one answer: use Linear Inequality.
- One expression inside absolute-value bars: use Absolute Value Equation.
- Products or division of polynomials: use Multiplication or Synthetic Division.
Already working with squares or cubes?
Use the existing Quadratic Formula Calculator for ax² + bx + c = 0 or the Cubic Equation Solver for degree-three equations.
What can I enter?
The new tools use integer coefficients, not free-form symbolic expressions. This makes the expected equation explicit and allows exact fraction answers for supported linear problems. Each tool states its degree, coefficient and divisor limits. Decimal result displays are approximations.
Why can an equation have no solution—or infinitely many?
If simplification produces a false statement such as 0 = 3, no value works. If it produces an identity such as 0 = 0, every permitted value works. The equation tools check these cases instead of dividing by zero.
