Using the Time Zone Calculator
The input is explicitly UTC. Do not enter your local clock time unless it already represents UTC. Select the destination by its city-based IANA name, then read both the local date and time because a conversion can cross midnight.
Worked example
Use the example inputs below to reproduce this result. These are the form's starting values, not recommended targets. Changing your inputs updates your result above; this worked example stays fixed for comparison. Results are rounded for display.
Example inputs
- UTC date and time
- 2026-01-01T12:00
- Destination zone
- Asia/Kolkata
Example result
- Local date and time
- Thursday, 1 January 2026 at 17:30:00 GMT+5:30
Method and assumptions
Uses the browser’s IANA timezone data, including applicable daylight-saving rules. Input is explicitly UTC.
Separate calendar dates from moments in time
A calendar date names a day, while a timestamp identifies a moment that can fall on different dates in different places. Decide which one your task uses before comparing results. Date differences also depend on whether endpoints are counted inclusively. State the convention alongside the answer when someone else needs to reproduce it.
Common question
Can I convert directly from any local timezone?
This version starts from UTC only. Convert your source time to UTC first, then enter it here. The destination conversion uses the browser's timezone data, including applicable daylight-saving rules; it does not offer an arbitrary source-zone selector.
